GEORGE F. STEFANOVICI, P.E., LEED AP BD+C, PRINCIPAL
George Stefanovici joined the firm in 1996 and heads the Mechanical Department, where he supervises the design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. His areas of expertise include chilled water systems, direct expansion, demand control ventilation, and energy recovery systems.
His experience includes a variety of project types, including healthcare, educational, and commercial facilities. These projects include master planning, design, and renovation of central chilled water plants, innovative cooling solutions tailored to site constraints, as well as modular and flexible design to closely control cost. George aims for simple, cost-effective systems that will meet the specific needs of each client.
George is multi-state licensed and is an accredited LEED professional with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), an Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) with the Uptime Institute, an accredited Data Center Energy Practitioner (DCEP) Specialist with the United States Department of Energy, a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). George is directly involved with current designs targeting LEED certification and Energy Star ratings. He has received an ASHRAE Award for energy-efficient systems design and a USGBC Award for sustainable design.
PAUL S. CARASTRO, P.E., PRINCIPAL
Paul Carastro joined the firm in 1988 and remains actively involved in projects. He produces and supervises electrical designs from concept through construction, incorporating flexibility and redundancy that goes beyond complying with code. His experience with short circuit analysis, equipment coordination studies, critical power applications, and power quality issues ensures project excellence and client satisfaction. His engineering specialties include custom switchgear, emergency power systems, medium and low voltage distribution, and uninterruptible power systems.
Paul has designed electrical systems for a range of projects throughout the years, including mission-critical, healthcare, educational, and commercial facilities. He oversees electrical designs, master planning, and construction administration, and he provides consultation services for repairs and modifications to existing buildings as well as investigations into performance problems with current electrical systems. His experience allows him to anticipate challenges before they arise.
Paul is multi-state licensed and is a licensed Commercial Electrical Inspector by the International Code Council, an Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) with the Uptime Institute, and an accredited Data Center Energy Practitioner (DCEP) Specialist with the United States Department of Energy. He is an active member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).
NATHAN JONES, P.E., LEED AP BD+C, PRINCIPAL
Nathan (Nate) Jones joined Carastro & Associates in 2003 and became a principal of the firm in 2018. Nate provides electrical engineering and construction administration, primarily for healthcare and commercial buildings. He has extensive experience performing short circuit analysis, protective device coordination and arc flash studies for electrical power and distribution systems.
Nate’s years of experience in healthcare design throughout the Tampa Bay area has allowed him to develop an excellent working relationship with regulatory agencies, which benefits our clients in procuring project approval at all stages, from schematic design through final inspection. Nate also has experience in the design and commissioning of mission-critical facilities and complex commercial locations. His engineering and commissioning experience includes short circuit analysis, power equipment coordination, arc flash studies for electrical infrastructure and equipment support systems.
Nate is a member of the Florida Healthcare Engineering Association (FHEA), the Institute of Electrical Engineers, and is an accredited LEED professional with the United States Green Building Council. His project history ensures that his designs are accurate, technically proficient, sustainable and responsive to project budget requirements.
