New construction six-story tower located at the St. Joseph’s Hospital Tampa campus. The 90-bed patient tower includes two lobbies with a drive-up front entrance, waiting rooms, on-call rooms, and conference/classroom spaces. There are three patient care floors, each with 30 patient rooms per floor. The second and third floors house the mechanical support rooms. A new pedestrian bridge was also built across Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to connect the tower to St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital as well as connections to the existing main tower at floors 1, 2, 5 and the basement.
A previously constructed Central Energy Plant designed by our firm provides emergency power to the facility, and an additional chiller, cooling tower, and boiler were added to the existing Central Energy Plant for this project. Stairwell pressurization and post-fire smoke evacuation systems were provided. A new fire pump was also added, allowing the existing pump to become redundant. The project was expedited by the owner in order to have more space to accept COVID patients during the summer of 2020.
