The 143,000 SF, 90-bed patient tower and central energy plant (CEP) included the addition of four stories built on top of the existing three-story building, which were brought to the shell for renovation. The new patient tower includes three additional surgical suites, pre-admission testing for surgical patients, non-invasive cardiology, new classrooms, inpatient dialysis, a cafeteria, and a kitchen.

The CEP powers the existing hospital and new patient tower. The CEP includes 6 megawatts of continuous rated generators and two 25,000-gallon fuel tanks which will allow 96 hours of run time without refueling. A new water-cooled centrifugal chiller and cooling tower were added to the existing chiller plant in addition to new air handlers, terminal units, ductwork distribution, air devices, and direct digital controls for the patient floors. Plumbing and medical gas design for the patient floors were also specified as well as fire protection systems for all new areas of the tower. Electrical design for the tower included low and medium voltage electrical power, interior and exterior lighting, lightning protection, surge protection, uninterruptible power supply, and SCADA monitoring and control systems.
