The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art provides a location for almost 500 pieces of art from the collection of Tom & Mary James/Raymond James, at the existing 100 Central Avenue building in downtown St. Petersburg.
This project renovated two floors consisting of 80,000 SF. The Museum provides 30,000 SF of gallery space and the balance of the space includes a theater/auditorium, office space, event space, and a lounge area, all of which required the design of new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems.
Mechanical design included HVAC system renovation with air cooled chillers, VAV boxes and ductwork, Direct Digital Controls, Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV), and custom air handling units. Mechanical design also included custom mechanical systems for two artwork display cases.
Electrical design comprised of interior and exterior lighting, networked lighting controls, surge protection, gallery niche lighting for artwork display, lighting for display cases, and fire detection and alarm systems with smoke detection.
Plumbing design included water distribution, sanitary sewerage, storm drainage, natural gas piping, and fuel-fired domestic water heaters.
Fire protection design comprised of wet-pipe sprinkler system, preaction sprinkler system, and consultation with respect to code requirements in existing fire command room.
